[Competitive Dance] Holly Wilson signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College dance team director Kimberly Williams announced that Holly Wilson of Rapid City, S.D., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and participate in the Knight Line Dance Team beginning in the Fall of 2013.

Wilson will graduate this spring from St. Thomas More High School where she has been active in dance, cheer, gymnastics, choir, band, theatre, Mission Team and National Honor Society.

"We are excited to bring Holly into the Knight Line family!," Williams said. "We look forward to having her experience in gymnastics and dance team to strengthen our dance team program."

Wilson plans to major in Nursing at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Wade and Carrie Wilson.

[Competitive Dance] Knight Line Wins 2 National Awards

The Knight Line Dance Team competed at WOW Factor Sports Inc. Nationals at the Minneapolis Convention Center Feb. 10 & 11.

The Knight Line Dance Team entered the NAIA, Div II & III Pom and Hip Hop Divisions.

The Knight Line Dance Team earned National Champion for both routines and received two banners, two plaques, and each dance received medals for both routines.

Athletic scholarships are few and far between, except when it comes to the Frazee Fly Girls Dance team. Several seniors were recently offered $2,300 dancing scholarships to Jamestown College.

Frazee Fly Girls Head Coach Ta Fett shared she is proud of her dancers, and noted they all work very hard and deserve to be recognized.

She shared the e-mail from Jamestown College Dance Team Director Kimberly Williams, which said: "I think your seniors have what it takes to dance on a college dance team and I would really like to have them. I've got $2,300 waiting for each of them with their name on it — if they want it."

While dance scholarships are becoming more common, it is unique to be offered such a large amount.

While senior Fly Girls co-captain Taylor Reetz already committed to attending the University of North Dakota, she was flattered at the offer.

NDSU Bison Premiere Showcase

Although only in their 2nd year, the Knight Line Dance Team received an invitation from a prestigious dance team right down the road. The 2012 Division I Pom Champions, NDSU, invited the Knight Line Dance Team to perform in their 3rd Annual Bison Premiere Showcase. This showcase is open to the public and will take place Friday, November 30, in the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse on the campus of NDSU.

While there, the Knight Line Dance Team will be amongst other collegiate dance teams from MN and ND and may also be able to see teams from SD and IA. The Knight Line Dance Team is excited to represent Jamestown College and showcase their talent to prospective recruits and supporters in the region.

The showcase doors open at 5:30 and the show starts at 6:30. Admission with a student I.D. is $4 and general admission is $6. Come over to Fargo and support your Knight Line Dance Team!

2nd Annual Princess Dance Camp

The 2nd Annual Princess Dance Camp is set for Saturday, December 1, at the Hansen Center on the Jamestown College campus.

New this year, there is no cost to participate!

"We chose to make Princess Dance Camp a service project to give back to community and hopefully generate more campers," said Knight Line Dance Director Kimberly Williams.

This year there are two sessions:

1. session #1 is for K-2nd grade running 9am-11am and

2. session #2 is for 3rd-5th grade running 1pm-3pm.

Participants will enjoy a Princess themed day full of games, activities, dance routines, and prizes. Registration is open and appreciated so the dancers can staff the camp most effectively.

[Competitive Dance] Knight Line Adds Entertainment, Spirit

The Knight Line Dance Team was in action throughout Homecomings festivities. The team added entertainment and spirit to Coronation, Burning of the J, the Homecoming Street Fair, and Homecoming football game. Dancers performed a routine choreographed by members Theresa Heier and Captain Tiffany Armstrong for Coronation Monday, October 8, in the Voorhees Chapel. Dancing in the Chapel presents a few challenges, with the most apparent one being the lack of space. Nevertheless, these ladies are true professionals and were able to work within the constraints without sacrificing the choreography. For this performance, half the team dressed as men, sporting black t-shirts and black & orange Jimmie ties graciously borrowed from a few football players. The remaining dancers wore Jimmie orange camisole tops with a very eye catching "J" on their left hip … Hard to keep your eyes off the rhinestone "J" that glowed under the Chapel lights.

[Competitive Dance] Knight Line Dance at NSO & Block Party

The Knight Line Dance Team opened their season with their first performance as a team at 2012 New Student Orientation Welcome Convocation. The dancers arrived the week before and were put through a demanding week-long dance intensive that included physical fitness testing and a 3-day dance camp where they learned 5 complete routines.

During the Welcome Convocation, Knight Line dancers spread-out around the Rieland Fine Arts building and entertained new students and their parents as they entered to take their seats. The team then performed a 4 minute routine reflecting the NSO theme of "Grab the Remote: Channel Surfing to Your Future".

Their routine featured theme songs from Friends, Sex in the City, Cops, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, Mario Brothers, and finished with a big bang using the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.

The Jimmie Knight Line Dance Team, led by Director Kimberly Williams, performed a pom routine to "Domino" at the Jimmie's first home football game.

The Knight Line Dance Team dances on the sidelines throughout each home football game injecting energy, spirit, and sparkle through their dances and cheers.

[Competitive Dance] Karrie Puckett signs with Jamestown College

The Jamestown College Knight Line Dance Team is proud to announce the signing of Karrie Puckett. Puckett is a transfer student from the Arts Institute - Minneapolis. She graduated from De LaSalle High School and has been involved in dance for 16 years.

Karrie's motivation to join the Knight Line Dance Team is "being able to go to school and do what I love, dance . . . and starting a new dance family!" Her involvement in her dance studio has allowed her a diverse background including jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theater.

"I meet Karrie at Star Systems dance competition last April, and I was impressed by her performance in her duo routine. I'm ecstatic to welcome her into our dance team program!" said Jamestown College Dance Team Director Kimberly Williams.

Karrie is looking forward to "making new friends and family" as she enters Jamestown College this fall as a Health and Fitness major.

Karrie is the daughter of Cary & Wendy Puckett.

[Competitive Dance] Taylor Burns signs with Jamestown College

The Jamestown College Knight Line Dance Team is proud to announce the signing of Taylor Burns. Burns is a senior from Watertown High School in Watertown, South Dakota.

"I love to dance, and have been doing it since I was in kindergarten and it is a passion of mine," Burns said when asked about her motivation for joining the Knight Line Dance Team. The Dance Team is directed by Kimberly Williams.

Taylor has earned a spot on the Honor Roll all four years of high school and has also been the recipient of the Awesome Arrow Academic Award.

Her involvement in her dance studio has allowed her a diverse background encompassing Cechetti ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, musical theatre, Irish dance, kick, hip-hop, pom, and pointe.

As a dance team member, she lettered in competitive dance for four years and performance dance for two years. Burns helped earn a state title in small group pom and hip-hop during her time at Watertown High School.

Taylor looks forward to "making new friends, continuing to do something that I love, learning new dances, and making new memories."

Taylor Burns enters Jamestown College this fall and will major in Nursing.

Taylor is the daughter of Brent and Jennifer Burns.

[Competitive Dance] Ashley Renner signs with Jamestown College

The Knight Line Dance Team is proud to announce the signing of Ashley Renner, Hutchinson High School (Minnesota) senior. Renner brings a combination of dance team and dance studio training to the Knight Line Dance Team, coached by Dance Director Kimberly Williams.

As a member of her high school dance team, she gained experience in jazz and high kick and helped clinch a ninth place finish this year. She has taken ballet, jazz, and hip hop in her studio for 15 years, resulting in numerous gold place trophies from competitions.

Renner's response to what motivated her to become a member of a college dance team was simple, "I've always loved dancing and I wanted to continue to dance during college�I'm very excited to meet all my teammates and learn a new style of dance." Renner has never been a part of a pom squad and thinks it will be "fun to experience something new."

Ashley Renner is the daughter of Brain and Dawn Renner. She will be entering Jamestown College Fall 2012 with the intent to major in Elementary Education.

[Competitive Dance] Nicole Rixen signs with Jamestown College

The Knight Line Dance Team is happy to announce the signing of Jamestown High School senior Nicole Rixen.

"Although Rixen brings two years of dance experience; her thirst for knowledge, eagerness to give her all, and passion for dance are just a few of the many assets she brings to the 2012-2013 Knight Line Dance Team," said Dance Team Director Kimberly Williams. Nicole is a member of the National Honor Society, a Prudential Spirit of Community bronze finalist, and AXA finalist in her academic achievements.

Nicole Rixen intends to major in Psychology with an emphasis in Addiction Counseling and minor in Leadership. Currently, she is earning college credits in the last semester of her senior year through Jamestown College's dual credit program.

As a dancer, her training includes jazz and pom through her participation in the Jamestown High School Sophistikix Dance Team. Dance accolades include Most Improved, Firecracker, and Choreographer.

[Competitive Dance] Theresa Heier Signs with Jamestown College

The Knight Line Dance Team is proud to announce the signing of senior Theresa Heier of Edgeley, North Dakota.

Theresa is the daughter of Mary Lou and Jamestown College Associate Professor of Computer Science, Don Heier. Her academic honors include Student of the Month, Honor Roll, Acalympics Team, and FBLA awards.

She brings five years of dance experience in ballet and jazz to the Knight Line Dance Team.

"I am excited to develop and expand her dance knowledge and experience, in addition to seeing her contributions as a member of the dance team program," said Kimberly Williams, Knight Line Dance Team Director.

Theresa Heier looks forward to "being on a team, learning new dance moves, and meeting new people." She was motivated to join Jamestown College's dance team program to be "able to dance, get exercise, and have fun."

After graduating from Edgeley High School this spring, she intends to enter Jamestown College as a Business major this fall.

[Competitive Dance] Andrea Brenno Signs with Jamestown College

The Knight Line Dance Team is proud to announce the signing of senior Andrea Brenno. Andrea is a Devils Lake native who has been involved in dance for 14 years. Andrea maintains a 4.0 average GPA and is a member and secretary for the National Honor Society. She is also the Jazz Choir secretary, and was recently honored with two awards: the February National Honor Society Student of the Month and the February Rotary Student of the Month.

Her dance background includes ballet, acro, tap, pom, hip hop, jazz, high kick, lyrical, and novelty dance styles. Her four years on the Devils Lake Dazzlers dance team includes individual awards for Best Kicks and Biggest Motivator along with a 5th place finish for Class A Varsity Pom (2012) and the Class A State Pom Championship (2010). She intends to major in English for Secondary Education with a minor in Leadership.

When asked, what motivated her to become a member of a college dance team program, Andrea responded, "I wanted to continue my dance and continue to perform and compete different styles of dance."

Andrea also added that she is "looking forward to meeting other dancers that are as passionate as I am about dance as well as being a part of a new, growing dance program at Jamestown College."

Andrea is the daughter of Tim and Devonna Brenno and will graduate from Devils Lake High School in 2012.
