[Women's Basketball] Sheridon Dewald signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Sheridon Dewald of Napoleon signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

Dewald, a five-foot-seven forward, was a three-time All-State and five-time All-District and All-Conference selection for Napoleon and is second on the school's all-time scoring list with more than 2,000 points.

"Sheridon is an extremely gifted scorer," Ulland said. "What she has done the last two years on her knee is unbelievable. I remember watching her as a sophomore and just saying 'wow!' We are excited for her to join the Jimmie family and look forward to seeing Sheridon in the black and orange the next four years."

Dewald plans to major in Exercise Science at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Keith and Sheila Dewald.

"Jamestown College has a nice campus and friendly atmosphere," Dewald said. "I like the basketball program and coach, and I want to major in exercise science, which Jamestown offers."

[Women's Basketball] Alexis Watts signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Alexis Watts, Miller, S.D., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013. Watts is transferring from the University of South Dakota.

Watts, a six-foot post player, recorded more than 1,000 points for Miller High School (355 points during her senior season) and was an All-Tournament and All-State selection.

"Alexis was someone who we were very high on last year," Ulland said. "She was one of the top kids we targeted, and we are very excited to sign her this year. With the loss of three inside players, Alexis will help fill some of the void inside next season. She has good size, finishes around the hoop well with both hands, and can step outside and knock down shots. I expect Alexis to make an impact in the program for the next four years, and she is a great character student-athlete to add to the Jimmie family."

Watts plans to major in Biology/Pre-Optometry at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lynn Watts.

"I was impressed with the quality of education, facilities and staff at Jamestown College," Watts said. "I felt very welcome and knew I would fit in."

[Women's Basketball] Billie Buchanan signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Billie Buchanan of Jamestown signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

Buchanan, a five-foot-eleven post player, recorded 220 points and 102 rebounds her senior season for the Blue Jays.

"Billie is a nice addition to the Jimmie family," Ulland said. "She is a legacy who is familiar with the program and has been playing with us this spring. She brings needed size and an inside presence to the program."

Buchanan plans to major in Nursing or Pre-Medicine at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Albert and Kellie Buchanan.

"I chose Jamestown College to get a good education and to play basketball," she said.

[Women's Basketball] Bria Taber signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College women's basketball coach, Greg Ulland and women's track & field coach, Jim Clark, announced that Bria Taber, who will be a 2013 graduate of Fargo South High School in Fargo, North Dakota, signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College. Bria plans to participate in track & field and basketball for the Jimmies.

Bria said, "I chose Jamestown College because it is the perfect school for me; it is just the right size, close enough but yet far enough away from home, and the college has a great reputation for educational success."

Bria is the daughter of Jane and Thomas Taber of Fargo. Bria plans to study Biology.

[Women's Basketball] Heather Lemer signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Heather Lemer of Drake, N.D., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

Lemer, a five-foot-six guard, was a team captain for Drake-Anamoose.

"Heather is a hard-nosed, competitive player who will join the Jimmie family this upcoming season," Ulland said. "She is a good outside threat in the guard position."

Lemer plans to major in Pre-Medicine at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Phil and Lisa Lemer.

"I chose Jamestown College because JC has really good medical programs," Lemer said. "I liked Jamestown College's campus the best."

[Women's Basketball] Chloe Bayless signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Chloe Bayless of Turtle Lake, N.D., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

The six-foot-one Bayless is a two-time All-District and All-Region selection for Turtle Lake-Mercer and averaged 11.1 points and 7.5 rebounds per game her senior season.

"Chloe is a tall, long athlete who can make an impact on both ends of the floor," Ulland said. "We are excited to start working with her and maximizing her potential as a Jimmie. She is a great character individual and will be nice to have her on campus."

Bayless plans to major in Biology/Pre-Medicine at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Shawn and Pat Bayless.

"I chose Jamestown College because it offers a superior education, as well as an opportunity to continue my basketball career in a strong program," she said.

[Women's Basketball] Haylee Albrecht signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Haylee Albrecht of Westminster, Colo., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

At five-foot-nine, Albrecht helped lead her Broomfield High School team to two state championships and averaged eight points per game.

"Haylee is a great kid and a legacy," Ulland said. "We are very excited to get the next generation coming to Jamestown College. She is going to be a great fit in the program, and we are very happy she has decided to join the black and orange."

Albrecht plans to major in Nursing at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Josh and Tammi Albrecht.

"On my visit to Jamestown College, I really enjoyed the small town atmosphere and the small class sizes," Albrecht said. "The women's basketball team has also been very successful the last few years. At Broomfield High School, I was fortunate to play with an amazing group of girls in a solid program. I have always wanted to live closer to family in the Jamestown area, and I feel blessed to get the chance to come home."

Jamestown College women's basketball coach, Greg Ulland and women's track & field coach, Jim Clark, announced that Krista Thielges, who will be a 2013 graduate of Enderlin High School in Enderlin, North Dakota, signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College. Krista plans to participate in track & field and basketball for the Jimmies.

Krista is the daughter of Deb Thielges of Enderlin. Krista plans to study Biology.

[Women's Basketball] Nicole Warren signs with Jamestown College

Nicole Warren of Oakes, N.D., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play volleyball and basketball for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

A five-foot-six hitter, Warren ranks no. 1 in career kills, career digs and passing for Oakes High School and was a 2012 All-State volleyball selection.

"Nicole is a talented athlete and a fierce competitor," said head volleyball coach Jon Hegerle. "She has the rare ability to make the difficult look easy on the court which has led to great success in her high school career. I am looking forward to adding Nicole to our program and helping her reach her potential on the volleyball court and in the classroom."

At point guard, Warren amassed more than 1,100 points, 360 assists and 300 rebounds in her career and was a three-time All-District selection.

"Nicole is a competitive athlete, the kind we were searching for with this class," said head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland. "Her work ethic is tremendous and we are excited to have her aggressive style joining our program. Nicole is not only a great addition to both programs but also to Jamestown College."

Warren plans to major in Elementary Education at Jamestown College. She is the daughter of Don and Kathy Warren.

"I felt at home when I visited Jamestown College," Warren said. "I like the friendly atmosphere around campus."

[Women's Basketball] Jordyn Sohns signs with Jamestown College

Jamestown College head women's basketball coach Greg Ulland announced that Jordyn Sohns of Elk River, Minn., signed a Letter of Intent to enroll at Jamestown College and play for the Jimmies beginning in the Fall of 2013.

Sohns is a five-foot-ten guard and All-Conference selection for Elk River High School. She averaged 11.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game her senior season. She has also been active in track and cross country.

"Jordyn is a hardworking athlete who was thrust into numerous positions in high school and excelled at all of them," Ulland said. "We are very excited for her to bring her versatility to the Jimmie family!"

Sohns plans to major in Exercise Science at Jamestown College She is the daughter of Jeff and Julie Sohns.

"I chose Jamestown because I like small town areas, all of the people there were so nice, and I just had the feeling that it was the right fit for me," Sohns said. "Coach Ulland made me feel like I was a part of the basketball family."

[Women's Basketball] Steele Earns NAIA All-American Status

Hannah Steele (Jr. Circle Pines, MN) was named All-American (third team) for NAIA Divison II women's basketball.

For the 2012-13 season, Steele netted 334 points (10.1/game), hauled down 84 rebounds (2.5/game), and dished out 152 assists (4.6/game). In honor of her name, she also snared 45 steals.

Hannah Steele was ranked #9 in NAIA Division II for total assists, #21 for free throw percentage (82.5%), and #36 for assist/turnover ratio (1.67).

Steele led the Jimmies to the A.I.I. (Association of Independent Institutions) Tournament Championship in February and a second straight NAIA National Tournament Sweet 16. The Jimmies also tied the school record for wins this season (27) that was set during the 2011-12 season.

This is the second All-American award for Hannah Steele. Steele also earned All-American status for the 2010-11 season when she was ranked #4 in NAIA for assists per game with 5.6.

For her Jimmie career, Steele has scored 935 points, grabbed 233 rebounds, passed out 433 assists to her teammates, and added 114 steals just for fun.

[Women's Basketball] Jimmies have Plenty to Build Around

Strong programs often times find themselves in the position the Jimmie women's basketball team enters the offseason in.

Coming off another good year, the Jimmies get hit hard by graduation, but also bring back a bunch of quality players.

After two straight Sweet 16 appearances at the national tournament, coach Greg Ulland said the goal is to push the bar higher.

"The Sweet 16 is great, it's a really nice accomplishment, but we don't want that to be the benchmark," he said. "We want to win a few more games, maybe get a little lucky and win five.

"I think that's the goal of all the top programs and that's where we want to be."

While that's the long term goal, the immediate focus heading into the 2013-14 campaign is replacing three productive post players.

Seniors Bridget Schuneman, Amber Ramlo and Kayla Roemmich were major contributors for three years. This past season alone the trio accounted for 876 points and 571 rebounds.

"You don't just replace three players like that," Ulland said. "They've meant a ton to this program."

[Women's Basketball] Jensen, Mathison Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards

Two Jamestown College women's basketball student-athletes were recently announced as 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Award winners.

The award winners for Jamestown College women's basketball are listed here:

March 2013: Carly Jensen (G, Jr.) White Bear Lake, Minn.

March 2013: Morgan Mathison (G, Sr.) Dilworth, Minn. (Morgan is junior - third year; however, after Fall 2012 semester, she had earned enough credits to be classified as a senior.)

The NAIA announced that 178 Division II Women's Basketball student-athletes were named 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Davenport (Mich.), Morningside (Iowa), Olivet Nazarene (Ill.), Rochester (Mich.), Saint Mary (Kan.) and Tennessee Wesleyan tied for the lead amongst all institutions with five honorees.

In order to be nominated by an institution's sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.

[Women's Basketball] Jimmies Fall in Sweet 16

Eastern Oregon ended the Jamestown College Jimmie women's basketball season on Friday.

Jimmie seniors Kayla Roemmich (Bottineau, ND), Amber Ramlo (Jamestown, ND), and Bridget Schuneman (Lino Lakes, MN) end their career with the winningest four year run in Jimmie history.

The Jimmies went 26-7 (2009-10, school record for wins at time, NAIA Tournament appearance), 21-8 (2010-11), 27-5 (2011-12, new school record for wins, first round NAIA tournament win), and 27-6 (2012-13, tied school record for wins, first round NAIA tournament win).

Combined four year record: 101-26 with 3 NAIA National Tournament appearances.
