Jamestown College collected eight first-place finishes, five by the men, at the Northern State Triangular on Saturday in Aberdeen.

The Jimmie men had a solid second outing of the season, piling up five first-place performances in the meet.

In fact, it was five different performers to earn the top-place finishes.

"Overall it was a pretty good meet for us," said coach Ed Crawford. "We made pretty good progress from the first week to the second week and that was good to see."

Trent Roemmich and Jarann Johnson continued their unbeaten start.

Roemmich, a sophomore from Linton by way of Bottineau, won his second straight 55 meter hurdle race in a time of 7.94, leading a dominant 1-2-3-4 JC effort in the race. His brother Scott was second (8.28), J.T. Petsch was third (8.38) and Cody Ptacek (8.85) was fourth.

Trent Roemmich is rapidly closing in on the indoor national qualifying time. He was just .07 seconds short.

"Trent is really close. He's doing extremely well," Crawford said.

Johnson posted his second consecutive victory in the 400, crossing in a time of 51.29 to win comfortably.

Former Blue Jay Spencer Kamoni accounted for the other JC victory. The 800 was another strong race for the Jimmies as Kamoni won in a lifetime best of 1:59.89. Nathan Christensen (2:02.58) was third and Kyle Heim (2:04.49) fourth.

"Really good effort there by Spencer. He looked good," Crawford said.

Like Kamoni, the Jimmies' other two wins came from former JHS athletes.

Brian Sinner and Matt Johnson, who were technically competing unattached until they are officially cleared after transferring in, performed well in the jumps.

Sinner cleared 6-0 to win the high jump, while Johnson took the triple in 42-2.

In the 200, Evan Schreiner came in second in a time of 24.14.

The JC throwers performed well for the second straight meet.

Mike Findlay was second in the weight throw with a heave of 48-8.75. Garrett Tenney (46-8) was third and Rob Nelson (44-0.50) was fourth.

In the shot, Nelson and Findley went 2-3 with marks of 46-8.25 and 44-1.25, respectively.

"The throwers all did a great job," Crawford said.

The Jimmies' 1600 relay quartet placed second again. They crossed in 3:30.83 just behind Northern State (3.30.65).

The Jimmies are back in action on Saturday when they head to Moorhead for the Cobber Invite.
