Marlon Branson placed second for the second straight meet for the Jimmies.

The short-handed Jimmies had a strong showing at the Minot Invite on Saturday.

Decimated by injuries and academic ineligibilities, Jamestown College had six wrestlers place at the Minot State Dome, topped again by 165-pounder Marlon Branson.

The six JC placers were spread out in just four weight classes.

Branson, the junior from Kodiak, Alaska, placed second at 165-pounds for the second straight meet. He also placed second in Dickinson on Jan. 14.

Branson collected a pin and major decision en route to the championship match against Ethan Hinebauch of Montana State-Northern where Branson came away with a 12-8 win.

Johnathon Gonzalez also competed at 165 and went 2-2 to place sixth.

Daniel Taylor and Jaykob Miller each placed third.

Taylor and Miller each went 3-1.

Taylor had to earn his third-place finish at 133 when he outlasted Matthew Chambers of Dickinson State, 12-10 in overtime.

Miller also had a tight showdown for third at 157 when he nipped Drew Spaulding of Minot State, 5-4. Sam Brown, another 157-pounder for the Jimmies, split his four matches and ended sixth.

The busiest Jimmie was Zach Pickering, who labored through six matches at 149 and earned a solid fourth-place finish. The sophomore from Pinehurst, Idaho, piled up 22 points with three pins and a major en route to the third-place match, but he fell to Beau Lasalle of Montana State-Northern, 15-8.

The Jimmies are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Mitchell, S.D., for a dual against Dakota Wesleyan.
