A dominating second half lifted the Jimmies to the DAC Midseason Tournament championship.

After a hard-fought 60-55 win over Dickinson State on Saturday night, the Jimmies overcame a slow 22-point first half against Mayville State by outscoring the Comets 44-27 over the final 20 minutes.

The No. 10 Jimmies beat Mayville State 66-53 on Sunday at the Bubble in Valley City to up its record to 19-4

The Jimmies were down 26-22 at halftime to the Comets, but a 44-point second half left little doubt at the end to who is the best team in the DAC.

Jamestown College shot 55 percent over the final 20 minutes, while limiting the Comets to 10 makes on 29 attempts.

The Jimmies dominated the glass (46-26), although they did turn it over 19 times.

Eight JC players scored in the game and four were in double figures. Travis Burley, Byron Jones, and Drew Preiner each had 12 points. Jared Sutherland added 11 off the bench and made a pair of threes.

Preiner also dished out a game-high five assists. Burley and Davon Thomas each had seven rebounds.

Gus Kueber, an Aneta, N.D., native, led the Comets with 13 points.

The Jimmies and Comets square off again in Mayville in Saturday in the DAC opener for both.

The Jimmies overcame an ugly start to win their opener on Saturday.

Jamestown College trailed Dickinson State 17-6 early and 20-8 later in the first half, but rallied in the second half.

Preiner's 3-ball late in the second half was the key shot for the No. 10 Jimmies as they outscored the Blue Hawks 32-23 in the second half.

It was another strong defensive effort for the Jimmies, especially in the second half.

It was a shaky start, though as Dickinson State built a big early lead and the Jimmies played uphill much of the night.

The Jimmies won despite shooting 33 percent, but they did make 22 of 26 free throws, while the Blue Hawks missed eight foul shots and made just 34 percent of their field goals.

Jones had 15 points to lead the Jimmies. Burley had 12 points and 8 rebounds, while Preiner added 11.

Tevin Hurd had a game-high 19 points to lead the Blue Hawks (7-13).
