ST. CLOUD, Minn.-- The Jimmie baseball team completed a perfect 7-0 fall season, defeating Viterbo 9-7 and 6-3.
The Jimmies rallied from a 7-3 deficit with Drake Pilat (JR/Winnipeg, MB, Canada), Kaleb Binstock (JR/Grand Forks, ND), Tanner Roundy (JR/Henderson, NV), and Pete Pennylegion (SR/Ferndale, WA) all driving in runs during a six-run seventh inning.
Brodie Stairs (SR/Calgary, AB, Canada) (1-0) picked up the win in relief, pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Beau Rabedeaux (SR/Poulsbo, WA) worked the final two innings for his first save. Jesse Prothero (JR/Mountlake Terrace, WA) came in the sixth inning and did not allow a run while facing four batters. Jerome Byndloss (SR/Las Vegas, Nev.) started and went five innings, allowing seven runs (four earned) on eight hits, striking out seven.
In game two, Jamestown took a 3-0 lead after two innings on run-scoring hits by Binstock, Taichi Sasaki (SR/Sakai, Osaka, Japan), and a wild pitch that allowed Sasaki to score.
Viterbo scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 6-3 but would get no further.
Nick Torres (SR/Bremerton, WA), the second of five Jamestown pitchers, picked up the win. Torres (1-0) pitched an inning and two-thirds, striking out two.
Binstock and Zurbrugg had three hits each. Pennylegion and Sasaki also had multiple hit games for the Jimmies.
