ATHENS, Ohio-- Tyler Chavez-Leech (FR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Cayle Bell (SO/Baldonnel, British Columbia) each scored in the second period to help the 14th-ranked Jimmie hockey team to a 3-1 victory and weekend sweep of No. 3 Ohio University.
Cameron Todd (SO/Burraneer, Australia)'s second goal of the season put Jamestown ahead at the 4:17 mark of the first period on assists by Trevor Okino (SO/Richmond, British Columbia) and Hayden Yaremko (FR/The Pas, Manitoba).
Chavez-Leech made it 2-0 Jimmies at 9:55 of the second period. The goal was the third of the weekend and the season for Chavez-Leech, and was assisted by Phoenix McElroy-Scott (SR/Morden, Manitoba).
Bell extended UJ's lead to three goals with his first of the year, scoring on a breakaway just seven seconds after serving a minor penalty. McElroy-Scott picked up his second assist of the game.
Ohio ended the shutout at 9:33 of the third period on Matthew Rudin's second of the season. He was assisted by Gianni Evangelisti and Grant Hazel.
Once again Ohio had a huge advantage in shots, outshooting Jamestown 48-22. Tyson Brouwer (SO/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 47 stops to set a new career-high.
Both teams came up empty on the power play. The Jimmies were 0-for-6 and Ohio 0-for-7 with the man advantage.
