MINOT, N.D.-- Minot State University scored two goals in a 3:19 span in the second period on the way to a 3-1 win over the Jimmie hockey team Friday evening.
Jamestown (1-3-0) opened the scoring 1:49 into the second period courtesy of Eric Buckley (SO/Penticton, British Columbia). Cayle Bell (SO/Baldonnel, British Columbia) and Trevor Okino (SO/Richmond, British Columbia) got the assists.
Minot State tied the game on Lyndon Lipinski's power play goal at the 15:59 mark of the second, assisted by Shain Scheschuk. With 42 seconds left in the period, Scheschuk broke the tie with a goal of his own, assisted by Lipinski.
Despite being outshot 37-11 after two periods, the Jimmies hung tough in the third but were unable to find the tying goal. Robby Moar's empty-net goal with 1:13 left closed out the game's scoring.
Tallon Kramer (FR/Grand Prairie, Alberta) stopped 44 of the 46 shots he faced in his UJ debut. Josh Bykowski finished with 19 saves for the Beavers.
The Jimmies were 0-of-6 on the power play while Minot State converted 1-of-5 chances. UJ was whistled for 11 penalties totalling 43 minutes and Minot State committed 12 penalties totalling 45 minutes.
Jamestown is on the road next weekend at Ohio University for a weekend series against the Bobcats.
