JAMESTOWN-- It's homecoming time at the University of Jamestown, as the Jimmie football team hosts Dakota State (S.D.) University Saturday at Rollie Greeno Field at Taylor Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
Jamestown (1-4, 1-1 NSAA ) is coming off its first victory of the season, a 26-19 win over Waldorf (Iowa) last weekend in Jamestown. Dakota State (3-2, 1-1) led 21-10 against Presentation (S.D.) on Monday, but were shutout in the second half and lost 22-21.
Saturday's game marks the 28th time the Jimmies and Trojans have met on the field. Jamestown holds a 19-8 edge in the series, but Dakota State has won four of the last five matchups, dating back to 2012.
UJ will be tasked with stopping the top statistical offense in the conference. Dakota State averages 39.6 points and 494 yards per contest. (114) each topped the 100-yard plateau on 22 and 23 carries, respectively. The two running backs have rushed for 290 yards, which ties them for second in the conference.
After completing just under one-third of his passes in the first two games, QB Dylan Klatt (SR/Crookston, Minn.) is 47-for-88 passing for 553 yards in his last three games. WR Branden Edwards (SR/Apache Junction, Ariz.) has caught 17 passes for 191 yards, both team highs.
