FREMONT, Neb.-- Midland (Neb.) University broke a 1-1 tie with four goals in the third period, salvaging a weekend series split with the Jimmie hockey team Saturday night.
Blake Neumann's power play goal at 5:13 of the third period gave Midland a 2-1 lead. Trevor Hillman and Jake Mullendore were credited with the assists.
Ben Henry scored at the 10:26 mark on an assist from Ryan Conybear to make it 3-1, then 62 seconds later, Mullendore's goal, assisted by Nick Blanchette, put the Jimmies down by three.
Blanchette's empty net goal at 19:32 rounded out the Midland scoring.
Henry scored his first goal of the game 7:58 into the 1st period, assisted by Bradley Hepler.
UJ had a 7-4 shot advantage after the first 20 minutes and an 18-11 edge heading into the third period.
The Jimmies were 0-of-6 on the power play while Midland converted 1-of-5 chances with the man advantage.
Tyson Brouwer (SO/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 18 saves before being pulled for an extra attacker with 1:04 left. Dakota McDonald stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced for Midland.
Jamestown (1-1) returns home to face Minot State University on September 28.
