FOREST CITY, Iowa-- A night after being swept by Viterbo (Wis.), the Jimmie volleyball team returned the favor Saturday, defeating Waldorf 25-15, 25-17, and 25-12.
Jamestown (9-6, 2-1 NSAA) was led by Haley Glasoe (SR/Wildrose, N.D.)'s nine kills and .500 hitting percentage. Isabel Wedell (SO/Ellendale, N.D.) added seven kills and hit .462, while Madison Wendel (SR/Carrington, N.D.) chipped in with six kills and a .545 hitting percentage.
Defensively, Elise Peterson (SR/Kasson, Minn.) racked up 20 digs and Julina Niemeier (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) 13. Both Peterson and Niemeier had two service aces and combined for just one service error. Morgan Hensch (SR/Fergus Falls, Minn.) had four blocks, including two solo, and Glasoe had four block assists.
The Jimmies outhit Waldorf (3-14, 0-3 NSAA) .223 to (-.009), including a .435 percentage in the third set. Jamestown had a 49-44 advantage in digs and made just eight attack errors compared to Waldorf's 26.
UJ's next game will be on September 29 when they host Bellevue (Neb.) in the first athletic contest to be held in the brand new Harold Newman Arena.
