HAM LAKE, Minn.-- Zach Gomez (FR/Westminster, Colo.) shot a team-best 1-over par 145 to lead the Jimmie men's golf team to a 10th-place finish at the Augsburg Fall Invitational at Majestic Oaks Golf Course.
Jamestown and Waldorf (Iowa) were the only two NAIA schools competing in the 19-team field.
Austin Rene (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) cut five strokes off of his opening round score, finishing at 5-over par 149 (77-72), and tied for 26th.
Nathan Kapaun (SR/Fargo, N.D.) had the biggest improvement from round one to round two for the Jimmies. Kapaun shot a 7-over par 79 on Saturday, but came back Sunday with a 1-under 71 to finish at 6-over par 150 to tie for 31st.
Nolan Frank (SR/Sartell, Minn.) fired back-to-back 5-over par 77 rounds to end tied for 55th at 10-over 154.
Brandon Stahlhut (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) was tied for 59th at 13-over par 157 (78-79).
Brook Bergh (SO/Havana, N.D.) competed as an individual, placing 58th with a 12-over par 156 (77-79).
Augsburg (Minn.) College took the team honors with a two-round score of 578. St. Thomas (Minn.) and University of Manitoba tied for second with a score of 585.
Harrison Cooper was the individual winner with an 8-under par 136 (71-65). He was three shots better than runner-up Noah Bragg of Bethel (Minn.) University, who finished at 5-under 139 (69-70).
The Jimmies are in action next weekend at the Concordia (Minn.) Fall Invite, which will be held at Wildflower Golf Course Sept. 9-10.
