The Jimmie women's track and field team took second place at the North Star Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded Friday at Taylor Stadium.
Jamestown finished with 192 points. Dickinson State (N.D.) won the team title with 241 points. Viterbo (Wis.) was third with 96 points, and Valley City State (N.D.) fourth with 71 points.
Kaiann Arellano (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) was named NSAA Field Athlete of the Meet. She won the high jump, clearing a height of 5 feet, 3 inches (1.60 meters), which tied the conference meet record, and won the heptathlon. Arellano also placed second in the 100 meter hurdles (15.00) and 400 meter hurdles (67.34).
Three other Jimmies also earned individual titles. Amber Posner (JR/Pillager, Minn.) won the 10,000 meters (41:44.48), Christa Lysne (SR/Devils Lake, N.D.) took the 1500 meters in a confernce record time of 4:54.85, and Rachel Heuchert (SR/Browerville, Minn.) also set a new conference record in the 800 meters (2:21.29).
Sophia Bruckner (FR/Tempe, Ariz.) came away with two top-three places, taking second in the 200 meter dash (12.83) and third in the 200 meter dash (26.20).
Other double placers included Kylee Voigt (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), second in the 400 meter dash (59.31) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (26.22); Lysne, second in the 5000 meters (20:02.89) and third 800 meters (2:26.38); Hannah Christenson (SO/Rugby, N.D.), third in the 400 meter dash (59.62), and fifth in the 200 meter dash (26.80); Jordan Thomas (FR/Pingree, N.D.), second in the long jump (16 feet, 1 3/4 inches; 4.92 meters) and third in the triple jump (33 feet, 9 1/2 inches; 10.30 meters); Allison Foster (SO/Rugby, N.D.) fourth in the 10,000 meters (45:16.02), and fourth in the 5000 meters (20:39.27); Cassidy Peterson (JR/Velva, N.D.) fifth in the 1500 meters (5:33.33), and sixth 5000 meters (22:00.45); and Madelaine Rue (FR/Frazee, Minn.) fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (71.57), and sixth 100 meter hurdles (16.46).
Krista Thielges (SR/Enderlin, N.D.) placed fourth in the javelin (114 feet, 2 inches; 34.81 meters).
Placing fifth were Julia Johnson (FR/Park River, N.D.) in the triple jump (33 feet, 6 inches; 10.21 meters); Emily Stier (SO/Rugby, N.D.) in the long jump (15 feet, 9 3/4 inches; 4.82 meters); and Adele Keller (FR/Poulsbo, Wash.) in the javelin (111 feet, five inches; 33.96 meters).
The 4x400 meter relay team of Voigt, Arellano, Christenson, and Heuchert (4:08.30) placed first and set a new conference record.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Chadwick, Christenson, Lysne, and Heuchert (10:21.69) and the 4x100 meter relay team of Bruckner, Johnson, Rue, and Voigt (50.37) both finished second.
