The Jimmie men's track and field team took fourth place at the North Star Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which concluded Friday at Taylor Stadium.
Jamestown finished with 82.5 points. Dickinson State (N.D.) won its third straight team title with 200 points. Dakota State (S.D.) was second with 110 points, and Waldorf (Iowa) third with 99 points.
Drew Larsen (SR/Culbertson, Mont.) was the only individual champion for the Jimmies. He took top honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.05 meters (154 feet, 4 inches). He also added sixth place finishes in the discus (38.21 m; 125' 4") and shot put (11.74 m; 38' 6 1/4").
Matt Young (SO/Woodland, Wash.) finished second in the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:03.94. Young also took fourth in the 5000 meters (16:49.35).
Dylan Koenig (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) was second in the 400 meter hurdles (56.93).
Brady Carlson (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) ran 50.35 seconds in the 400 meter dash to place third, and finished fourth in the 200 meter dash (22.58).
Jamison Gray (JR/Dickinson, ND) had two top-six places, third in the javelin (50.46 meters; 165' 7") and sixth in the high jump (1.69 meters; 5' 6 1/2").
Fifth-place finishes went to Matthew Hust (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) (javelin, 46.92 meters; 153' 11"), Keith Rogers (SR/El Cajon, Calif.) (long jump, 6.42 meters; 21' 3/4"), Ed Mata (JR/Alamo, Texas) (high jump, 1.79 meters; 5' 10 1/2"), Bennett Sauve (FR/Thief River Falls, Minn.) (pole vault, 2.95 meters; 9' 8"), and Cam White (JR/Tollhouse, Calif.) (200 meter dash, 22.688)
All three of the Jimmie relays earned top six finishes. The 4x800 relay team of Hornung, Dakota Wagner (SO/Jamestown, N.D.), Daniel Sampers (FR/Rosemont, Minn.), and Young was third (8:24.53), the 4x100 relay team of Carlson, Noah Knutson (SO/Casselton, N.D.), Mata, and White was fourth (44.32), and the 4x400 relay team of Hornung, White, Koenig, and Carlson was sixth (3:30.76),
