DICKINSON, N.D.-- The Jimmie track and field teams competed in one final meet before they host the North Star Athletic Association conference championships May 11-12 at Taylor Stadium.
Although both the men's and women's teams did not field a complete squad, and no team scores were kept, Jamestown still turned in a strong showing Saturday.
All told, eight Jimmies finished first in their events, and several others recorded top five places.
On the women's side, Jordan Thomas (FR/Pingree, N.D.) won the long jump with a distance of 5.27 meters. Paulina Haak (JR/Herreid, S.D.) bested the field in the hammer throw, finishing with a mark of 42.46 meters. Julia Johnson (FR/Park River, N.D.)'s 10.90 meter leap in the triple jump earned her a first place for her efforts. The 4x100 meter relay team of Madelaine Rue (FR/Frazee, Minn.), Kylee Voigt (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), Johnson, and Sophia Bruckner (FR/Tempe, Ariz.) took first in 50.73 seconds. Bruckner (13.17) and Emily Stier (SO/Rugby, N.D.) were 1-2 in the 100 meter dash.
Second place finishes went to Madison Mach (JR/Marseilles, Ill.) in the pole vault (2.75 meters), Moira McNally (FR/Chokio, Minn.) in the shot put (10.77 meters), Rachel Heuchert (SR/Browerville, Minn.) in the 800 meters (2:18.89), and Bruckner in the 200 meters (26.51).
Other Jimmies with top five places included Stier, third in the long jump; Christa Lysne (SR/Devils Lake, N.D.), third in the 800 meters; Rebecca Nord (JR/Enderlin, N.D.), third in the hammer throw; Rue, third in the 100 meter hurdles; Hanna Christenson, third in the 200 meters; Johnson, fourth in the long jump; Haak, fifth in the shot put; Alicia Weiand (FR/Mandan, N.D.), fourth in the javelin; Adele Keller (FR/Poulsbo, Wash.) fifth in the javelin; McNally, fifth in the discus; and Thomas, fifth in the triple jump;
For the men, Drew Larsen (SR/Culbertson, Mont.) won the discus with a throw of 37.90 meters. Michael Sampers (JR/Rosemont, Minn.) was first in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:41.24) while Dakota Wagner (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) placed second (11:58.23). Dylan Koenig (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) won the 400 meter hurdles (56.41).
Second place finishes went to Matthew Hust (SO/Jamestown, N.D.) in the javelin (48.77 meters), the 4x100 meter relay team of Ed Mata (JR/Alamo, Texas), Cam White (JR/Tollhouse, Calif.), Noah Knutson (SO/Casselton, N.D.), and Brady Carlson (FR/Jamestown, N.D.),
