SIOUX CITY, Iowa-- The Jimmie track and field teams turned in several season bests at the Sioux City Relays, which concluded Saturday at Olsen Stadium
Kaiann Arellano (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) tied for first place in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 1/4 inches. The mark qualifies Arellano for nationals, making it the second event the junior has qualified for this season in addition to the 100 meter hurdles.
Three other Jimmies finished with top six finishes. Allison Foster (SO/Rugby, N.D.) placed 5th in the 5000 meters in a time of 19:51.86, Kylee Voigt (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) was sixth in the 400 meters (59.90 seconds), and Amber Posner (JR/Pillager, Minn.) also finished sixth in the 10,000 meters (41:09.45).
Rachel Heuchert turned in the Jimmies' best 800 meter time this season at 2:21.14. The 4x100 meter relay team of Madelaine Rue (FR/Frazee, Minn.), Kylee Voigt, Sophia Bruckner, and Julia Johnson (FR/Park River, N.D.) turned in the top UJ time this spring, finishing in 51.10 seconds.
On the men's side, Matt Young (SO/Woodland, Wash.) turned in the top individual performance for UJ with a second-place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Young finished in a time of 9:42.52.
Jamison Gray (JR/Dickinson, ND) was 7th in the javelin with a throw of 153 feet, 6 inches (46.78m). The 4x200 meter relay team of Andrew Hornung (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), Brady Carlson (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), Cam White (JR/Tollhouse, Calif.), and Noah Knutson (SO/Casselton, N.D.) took 7th with a time of 1:32.67, and the 4x100 meter relay team of Dylan Koenig (FR/Jamestown, N.D.), White, Knutson, and Carlson also finished 7th in 44.30 seconds.
Next up for the Jimmies is the Cobber Twilight Meet, hosted by Concordia-Moorhead College, on April 25.
