COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa-- Annie Nelson (JR/Bismarck, N.D.) set a new Jimmie scoring record for a two-day event, and the UJ women's golf team finished second at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate, which wrapped up Monday.
Nelson followed up Sunday's 2-over par 74 with a 5-over 77 Monday for a two-round total of 7-over par 151 (74-77). She finished in a tie for second place with Cassidy Evreniadis of Iowa Western CC. Sena Ersoy of Iowa Western CC was the individual winner with a two-round score of 140 (69-71).
Iowa Western won the team title with a total score of 629, 43 shots ahead of the Jimmies, who finished with 672.
Nelson broke the previous record of 154 first set by Rachel Jahner (JR/Dickinson, N.D.) in 2014, then tied by Nelson last November.
Alexis Piatz (SO/Oxbow, N.D.) tied for 14th with a 25-over par score of 169 (87-82). Savanna Nesemeier (JR/Kindred, N.D.) finished 24th at 30-over par 174 (86-88). Jenna Knutson (SO/Boulder, Colo.) tied for 29th at 34-over par 178(92-86). Emma Thompson (JR/Detroit Lakes, Minn.) was 38th at 41-over par 185 (95-90). Dana Rial (SO/Colorado Springs, Colo.), competing as an individual, tied for 35th at 38-over par 182 (93-89).
The Jimmies will travel to Medora, N.D., on April 9-10 to compete in the Blue Hawk Invitational hosted by Dickinson State University.
