Cameron Tood, a center on the Jimmie hockey team, will again be a part of the Australia men's national hockey team as the Mighty Roos compete in the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Galati, Romania.
Australia will be competing in Group A of Division II along with Serbia, Spain, Iceland, Belgium, and Romania. Round robin play begins April 3 and concludes April 9.
Todd was first selected to represent Australia in 2011, where he joined the national Under-18 team to compete in the 2011 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III Group A tournament in Taipei City, Chinese Taipei.Australia won the tournament, earning promotion to Division II for the following year. Todd recorded 14 points in five games and finished with the tournament's best face-off percentage of 70.10%. The following year, Todd again played for the national Under-18 team at the 2012 IIHF World U18 Championship Division II Group B tournament. Todd was named captain of the team and again finished with the best face-off percentage (72.63%) in the tournament. In 2013 Todd was selected for both the national Under-20 team for the 2013 World Junior Ice Hockey Championship Division II Group B tournament and the national senior team for the 2013 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament. In 2014 and 2015 Todd was named to the national senior team for the Division II Group A tournaments.
In 15 national senior team appearances, Todd has 5 goals and 8 assists for a total of 13 points. He had 10 goals and 13 assists in 29 games this season for the Jimmies, who just finished their first season in Division I of the ACHA.
