The Jimmie hockey team had plenty of chances to put the puck in the net Friday night against Williston State College, but it turned out they only needed one.
Bryan Kromm (FR/Stockton, Calif.) scored two minutes and 58 seconds into the second period, and UJ allowed just 14 shots by the Tetons in a 1-0 win at Wilson Arena.
Tyson Brouwer (FR/Lethbridge, Alberta) made 14 saves in recording his second shutout of the season. He recorded four saves in the first period, eight in the second, and had to make just two saves in the final 20 minutes.
The Jimmies peppered Williston State goaltender David Krejcik with 30 shots in the first two periods, and the native of the Czech Republic rose to the challenge, making 29 saves.
Both teams had multiple chances on the power play, but neither was able to convert. The Tetons were 0 for 5 with the extra man while Jamestown was unsuccessful on three tries with the man advantage.
UJ was whistled for 5 minor penalties while Williston State committed three minors and a 10-minute misconduct.
The two teams meet again Saturday night at Wilson Arena. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
