Taking a 12-point lead into the break, the Jimmie women's basketball team outscored Presentation College 33-7 in the third quarter to build a 38-point lead, winning 102-72 Wednesday at the Jamestown Civic Center.
The Saints shot 64 percent from the field in the first quarter, making seven of their 11 shots, but Jamestown was equally as accurate, connecting on 63.2 percent of their attempts and leading 34-15 after one.
Presentation continued making shots when they needed in the second ten minutes, and finished the half outshooting the Jimmies 63.3 percent to 52.5 percentm but found themselves down 12 at the break.
Taylor Hammer (SR/Grand Forks, ND) and Alexis Watts (SR/Miller, SD) combined to score the first nine points of the second half and Jamestown led by 21 (65-44) before Macy Toelle scored Presentation's first points of the quarter at the 6:58 mark. The Jimmies then reeled off 21 straight points over a 4:09 span to turn the game into a 40-point advantage.
Presentation outscored Jamestown 21-13 in the final stanza, but the damage had already been done, and the Jimmies won their eighth straight game and remained undefeated in NSAA play.
Hammer led the Jimmies with 20 points and seven rebounds, one of five Jamestown players in double figures. Bryn Woodside (JR/Albert Lea, MN) had 18 and nine assists, Kyra Dewald (SR/Jamestown, ND) added 13 points and five assists, Watts chipped in with 12 points, and McKayla Orr (JR/Ypsilanti, ND) had 11 points off the bench.
Toelle led all scorers with 23 points for the Saints. Cora Lopez was also in double figures with 10. Krystan Gomez had five points and eight assists off the bench.
Jamestown (18-4, 13-0 NSAA) hosts Trinity Bible College on February 7 while Presentation is back in action with a home game against Waldorf on February 10.
