MADISON, S.D.-- The Jimmie men's basketball team found itself down 13 points with 10:18 left and rallied to get within two points with 73 seconds to play before falling 79-73 to the Dakota State (S.D.) University Trojans.
Jamestown shot 16 of 34 in the first half but were only 2 for 9 from long distance, trailing 40-35 at the break.
Logan Brown (SR/Roseville, Minn.)'s three-pointer at 17:39 of the second half made the score 44-43 Trojans, but the home team went on a 19-7 run over the next seven-plus minutes to build the 13-point advantage.
After Tanner Heiser's bucket gave Dakota State a 75-66 lead with 2:34 left, Riley Henderson (SO/Bismarck, N.D.) scored UJ's next seven points to bring Jamestown within two at 75-73. However, a pair of Heiser free throws and an Ian Barse basket put the game away for the Trojans.
Jacob Havron (SR/Pukalani, Hawaii) posted his third double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Jake Hagler (SR/Cando, N.D.) added 16 points and six rebounds. Kiwane Crowder (JR/Milwaukee, Wis.) had 10 points off the bench.
Kyle Kilgore led all scorers with 29 points for DSU (10-11, 4-5 NSAA). Kevin Daniels chipped in with 16 and Heiser finished with 12.
The Jimmies (10-12, 5-4 NSAA) travel to Mayville State Saturday.
