UJ sweeps Saints

JAMESTOWN-- Six players finished with six or more kills and the No. 20 Jimmie volleyball team made only eight attack errors in a 3-0 sweep of Presentation (S.D.) College Wednesday night at Harold Newman Arena. 

Isabel Wedell (SO/Ellendale, N.D.) and Morgan Hensch (SR/Fergus Falls, Minn.) led the way for Jamestown (12-6, 5-1 NSAA) with nine kills each. Haley Glasoe (SR/Wildrose, N.D.), Britta Knudson (SO/Bismarck, N.D.), Jessica Velander (SR/St. Michael, Minn.), and Madison Wendel (SR/Carrington, N.D.) all put down six kills.

After posting a .184 attack percentage in the first set, the Jimmies caught fire in the final two sets, hitting .317 and .442, respectively. Presentation managed to hit just .100 in the match, and finished with a .000 percentage in set number two.

Josie Beckman (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) and Whitney King (SR/Pierre, S.D.) both finished with 20+ assists in the match. Beckman passed out 23 helpers while King was close behind with 21. Beckman posted a double-double, racking up 13 digs.

Defensively, Elise Peterson (SR/Kasson, Minn.) had another strong performance, finishing with 24 digs and was joined in double figures by Julina Niemeier (JR/Jamestown, N.D.) with 11. Glasoe recorded five total blocks with Wedell and Hensch adding two each.

Presentation (13-6, 3-3 NSAA) was led by Olivia Stet and LaMour Binger's seven kills. Kayla Wolfe added six. Abigail Wahl finished with 14 assists and 11 digs.

Joely Roe ended with 16 digs while Jade Gallagher and Amber Cline each recorded a block assist.

Jamestown plays at Mayville State (N.D.) Friday and Valley City State (N.D.) Saturday. Presentation is on the road against Waldorf (Iowa) Friday and top-ranked Viterbo (Wis.) Saturday.
