Jimmies shut out by UMary

JAMESTOWN-- After scoring 11 goals in their previous two matches, the Jimmie men's soccer team was held scoreless in a 3-0 loss against the University of Mary Tuesday at Jimmie Soccer Field.

The match was tied at 0 until Gabriel Carvalho scored on a pass from Mitch Carter to put the Marauders ahead 1-0 in the 38th minute.

Joel McIlroy made it 2-0 in the 65th minute, putting a penalty kick past Jimmie goalkeeper Lasse Binder (SR/Hamburg, Germany).

McIlroy capped off the scoring with his second of the game, this time in the 80th minute, to extend the visitors' lead to 3-0.

A total of 21 fouls were called and seven yellow cards issued, including four in the final eight minutes of the match.

Shots were 11-7 (6-4 on goal) in favor of UMary. The Marauders also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Binder finished with three saves for UJ (3-3-1). Henrique Lucena-Pires (SR/Porto Alegre, Brazil) (2), Charlie Foster (SR/Sutton, England), and Ben Prochniak (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) had the Jimmie shots on goal.

Jamestown is on the road this weekend with matches at Morningside (Iowa) and Mount Marty (S.D.) College.
